0.1.0 - Prototype release!


We skipped releases 0.7 and 0.8 (which you can still find over at gitlab) to bring you straight to our first full release as a prototype game, Grimoire: Ars Bellica 0.1!!!

The game now has a complete world with 25 zones, 21 spells, and 10 different monsters! It even has a simple tutorial to teach the basics. Here is the summarized changelog:

  • A 5x5 world with 25 thematic maps and many possible paths to victory.
  • 5 new monsters: specters, spitting plants, winged eaters, summoners, and the fearsome armor knights!
  • 10 new spells: drift beacon, focused shield, heat beam, lesser barrier, levitate, lightning arc, pulse wave, stasis field, summon familiar, and the devastating orb of destruction!
  • You can now actually change the spells in your grimoire as you play
  • A simple tutorial spread over the 2 first maps using signposts to teach game controls
  • Partially random generation of map elements, especially rocks and plants
  • New initiative system: every round, entities roll initiative and the fastest act first! This allows creatures to dodge attacks or kill before they are killed!
  • Completely revised HUD, including a spell bar, tooltips, a fixed inspector, and a message log
  • Icons for all spells and many visual effects for different in-game events

A great welcome and many thanks to the new contributors to the project, without whom this release wouldn't be possible =)
